One of the prime movers in the renaissance of Southern Italian winemaking, Feudi di San Gregorio has always promoted indigenous Southern Italian grape varieties, such as this Greco di Tufo. Perfumed and aromatic, with beautiful clarity and layers of classic pear, peach and green plum fruit with decisive hints of balsamic mint. Full bodied and bright on the palate, with a lively acidity and defined mineral notes, very typical of the region.

Feudi di San Gregorio is an icon of modern Southern Italian winemaking. Its beautiful high-elevation vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, about an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. This is Irpinia, a historical region of the Campanian Apennines with a winemaking tradition so ancient its vineyards were described by Pliny.
Established in 1986 by two Irpinian families, Feudi di San Gregorio has always promoted indigenous Southern Italian grape varieties, such as Aglianico, Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo. It also promotes the distinctiveness of Irpinia, a highly varied region, with a succession of mountains, hills and plains with rivers and streams in between.
This landscape causes a system of winds that gives the region good rainfall and creates a microclimate that sets Irpinia apart from other Campania areas: vegetation is varied and thick; the short winters are extremely cold and snowy, while the summers are mild and long. To keep track of this variation, each Feudi vineyard is closely monitored with a meteorological station.
The soils here are also very varied and rich, owing to volcanic ash, with limestone-clay and sandstone all featuring along with stony and marly soils. In accordance with the sustainable Equalitas certification, the vineyards are cultivated using ecological practices to maintain the equilibrium of the environment. Soil and fertiliser management strategies are employed, pesticides are not used, biodiversity is positively encouraged and weeding does not take place between the rows of vines.
The wine is made in a fabulous state-of-the-art winery designed by Japanese architect Hikaru Mori and inaugurated in 2004. The distinctive labels on the bottles are designed by Massimo Vignelli, who also designed the interiors and furnishings of the winery.
In 2022, Feudi di San Gregorio became a B-Corp, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability. It has developed a number of sustainable projects in recent years, in addition to its increasingly low-impact cultivation methods – developed in partnership with national and international research centres – including the adoption of increasingly sustainable packaging components, the exclusive use of energy from renewable sources and investment in social projects.
