An intense wine, deep in red fruit flavours with a gentle hint of vanilla and coffee. It has excellent structure, balance and a good long finish. The wine is the perfect pairing with roasted red meats, pasta, cheese and cold smoked meats. A great Malbec.

Finca Agostino was founded by four brothers – Vincenzo, Rosalía, Sebastian and Miguel Agostino – who spent their childhood in Mendoza before moving to Canada with their family in the 1960s. They built up a highly successful real estate business, but they never forgot Mendoza and its vineyards, where their grandfather Sebastiano worked as a contractor vintner. So in 2003 they returned to Mendoza and, after a long search, acquired vineyards in Barrancas, Maipú.

Most of the Barrancas vineyards benefit from a trellis system, but there are also some hectares with a pergola system that are generations’ old. Warm sunny days, scarce rain and cool nights due to the altitude (850m) all contribute to healthy, ripe grapes. The wine is made by talented winemaker “Pepe” Gomez in a state-of-the-art winery. It is aged in French and American oak barrels for 10 months with a further ageing of 6 months in the bottle before release. The family also has an estate in the heart of the Uco Valley.
