Morandé, Gran Reserva, Merlot, Maipo, Chile 2022

Morandé was founded in 1996 by Pablo Morandé, and found immediate recognition both domestically and abroad. Morandé are true pioneers – they were the first family to develop the Casablanca D.O., recognising the fantastic potential of this cool climate wine region. All of the wines are produced with grapes from Morandés own vineyards. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by seeking the right terroir for each grape variety, and with significant vineyard holdings they are well placed to achieve this.

This Merlot comes from the Romeral vineyard in the Maipo Valley, where its alluvial clay-loam soils and Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions for well-structured red wines. Deep red with purple hues, the nose features fresh red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, as well as notes of white pepper and cedar. The palate is characterized by acidity and juiciness, with elegant tannins and great freshness.
